Grim Dawn on my highest level character (Lvl73) but still getting my head bashed in by some Mini-Bosses on Ultimate difficulty.

Blasphemous - gave it a swirl for about an hour / hour and a half. Lovely world building and premise, but for the souls-like platforming I really need to be in the mood first it seems.

That's alright, thank you lots for the honest feedback! :-)
To be frank I've been wondering the same things that you've mentioned in your review... It _does_ feel as though the device simply became available at the most inopportune of times, basically making it obsolete and mostly an "appreciator" device from the get-go.
What's more, at its current price point I'm not at all confident to consider getting it myself....

In any case, thank you a bunch for basically taking one for the team and sharing your honest opinion here! 👍

Wooo! Congratulations. Looking forward to your future updates regarding this device! 👍

I've been contemplating whether I want one for what feels like a long time now...

I can only speak from my personal experience having hosted both XMPP and Matrix for friends/family before.

Ran XMPP (eJabberd) for round about 10 years and it never really was a trivial process, neither for me as admin nor for my friends/family with regards to parcipating.
Basically, back then, I had to manually extend eJabberd with a bunch of XEPs (namely push notifications, message carbons and message archive) to increase the useability and user convenience to even stand a chance getting people on board and able to use the system. The client ecosystem was not quite there yet either - Conversations for instance had just come around to shaping up for android, Gajim for cross-platform was pretty fine though.
Let's not talk about E2E encryption either: GPG - not a chance, OMEMO was just coming around as well and was not yet very reliable.

Matrix on the other hand was quite the breakthrough for me as an admin with regards to user acceptance. I do believe that a big part of that comes from the concerted effort to have a unified client (Element) available on any platform - web, fat clilent, mobile client.
By now there's also a ton of cross chat platform bridges which also greatly serves as a "selling point" towards users. And most imporantly, again in my humble opinion, the required technical knowledge barrier for users is just not comparable to XMPP.

Don't get me wrong, I've learned so much as an admin setting up and hosting XMPP and for a short while I even had a PoC going at work to try and advocate the protocol, but in the end Matrix feels like a worthy successor to me.
It allows me to convince "normal users" to use a federated, self-hosted and free chat platform reliably - and that's what mostly matters to me ;-)

Truthfully?!
In this case the whole act appears toothless to me - any terrorist or child abuse organisation may have a tech savy person among their ranks that can utilize open source software in a malicious way.
I was under the impression that the EU strives to install software backdoors or scanning engines in any messaging protocol. This sounds more like an attempt to get access to big data at large under the guise of protecting the innocent - far from purposeful.

In any case, thank you for the clarification, in a nutshell it may be simply up to us tech savy people to advocate for using federated and self-hosted services again. In a way this would return the internet to a more community/people driven way of operating - and I am all for that, personally!

in reply to Patrick Breyer

If they truly pull this off we should all be advocating apps like DeltaChat (f-droid.org/en/packages/com.b4…), an E2E encrypted chat app that utilizes GPG encrypted emails in a user-friendly fashion.
And best of all the whole "walled garden messaging service" deal would be a thing of the past - all a participant ever needs is ANY single email provider and the DeltaChat app.

Wonder how they'll try to ruin a decades old backbone internet service like the MTA protocol?

Yet still, according to popular news outlets, the Finnish people have recently been crowned "the happiest in the world" once again!
How do you guys do that? 😁

Hang in there and try to not catch a cold - it's still "onion layered" garments time 😉
