Woooo, never thought this moment would actually happen - got my fxtec pro 1x in the mail today. Took only four years or so?
Not sure about the physical keyboard quite yet. Typing this on the phone. Not sure yet if I will end up using this as a daily driver. There is a cool factor for sure. But the hardware being so much poorer than my Sony Xperia, especially the camera, going to be a tough choice. Need to spend some time on the keyboard I guess. Having the full screen available while typing is kinda nice.

I've been contemplating whether I want one for what feels like a long time now...

Having played around for a bit, the keyboard is just that too difficult to use to actually be better than an on-screen keyboard (which I hate :D). The opening mechanism is somewhat tricky to use. But mainly, the camera is much worse than my Sony Xperia I bought second hand while waiting for the FxTec phone. I just can't justify moving to poorer spec hardware while only gaining the keyboard. It would have been different when I ordered this or even a few years after. When I ordered this I had a shitty Bq device with Ubuntu Touch. Then I moved to an old OnePlus 3, while waiting for the FxTec to ship. When it got delayed and delayed and delayed, I bought first a second hand Nokia and then my current second hand Sony Xpreria 5 II, which I'm I've been very happy with.
So, may not be many updates. I may just sell this for as much as I can get to cut the loss.

To be frank I've been wondering the same things that you've mentioned in your review... It _does_ feel as though the device simply became available at the most inopportune of times, basically making it obsolete and mostly an "appreciator" device from the get-go.
What's more, at its current price point I'm not at all confident to consider getting it myself....
In any case, thank you a bunch for basically taking one for the team and sharing your honest opinion here! 👍
